Department of Informatics

 

Department of Informatics was established as a Rectory Program in 1997 with the goals of allowing the spread use of information technologies in the university and developing new and innovative uses of such tehnologies in art and design. Apart from other Informatics programs in Turkey it mainly focuses on computer graphics.

 The department conducts both undergraduate-level and postgraduate-level educational programme:

Undergraduate courses offered by the department are credited elective courses and are available for all registered students at MSGSU. These courses deal with the areas of Programming, Computer-Aided Design, Image Processing, 3D Modeling and Geographic Information Systems.

The department also runs a a postgraduate program called Computer-Aided Art and Design run by the department. It is an interdisciplinary study program allowing students to develop expertise and do research in Computer-Aided Modeling, Multimedia, Animation and On-line Technologies. The program contains 25 credits and is normally completed within 2 years.

Computer facilities provided by the department is excellent. There are two computer labs consisting of state-of-art hardware systems. All the leading sotware in CAD, image processing, animation, illustration and web design is available for the use of students.
