In terms of the fields of study, number of students and faculty members, Music Department is the largest department of the Conservatory. The Department consists of Composition and Conducting, String Instruments, Woodwind and Percussion Instruments and Piano Programs. With its 84 faculty members (73 full-time faculties: 6 professors, 12 associate professors, 16 assistant professors, 23 instructors, 15 assistants, and 12 part-time faculties) Music Department serves around 110 college level students and 180 full-time Junior Department students (comprising secondary school and high school students). Music Department also offers Master’s and Proficiency in Arts degrees through the MSFAU Institute of Social Sciences and conducts part-time music education in primary school level.
MSFAU State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Junior Symphony Orchestra and various chamber groups formed under the structure of this department regularly present concerts and recitals throughout the academic year—both at inside and outside of the Institution. Alongside with these activities, the Department invites distinguished musicians and academicians from inside and outside the country to offer seminars and master classes in order to keep the highest level of educational and artistic quality by presenting a variety of artistic/interpretive approaches to its students.
