MYR 102 CONSERVATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND RESTORATION PRINCIPLES I

2 hrs/week, 2 Theory, 2 Credits, ECTS 2 Credits
Objective / Content: Outlining the conservation philosophy and its dimensions, building a consciousness for the historical environment, describing the cultural values and their classifications, explanation of the cultural values which should be protected under the guidance of legal arrangements. The way the lecture is held; This theoretical lecture will be presented with the help of visual materials. The students are supposed to prepare a mid-term paper from the field works.

Objective / Content: To know the subject of writing expression in daily life and the importance of punctuation's in writing skills. To know the importance of individual and social expression of communications. Research, reading and comprehension skills review. Practice and training in written Turkish for the purposes of exposition, description, narration and discussion. Fundamental rules, examples of punctuation and dictation; styles of writing and composition; the books of classical and contemporary Turkish writers. Correction of syntactic and narration mistakes in reference to students' compositions. Examples of scientific writings such as reports, articles, etc.; practice of oral studies aiming at practice in conferences and discussions.

MYR 302 DECORATION AND RESTORATION TECHNIQUES

3 hr/week, 1 Theory, 2 Practice, 2 Credits, ECTS 3 Credits
Objective / Content: The purpose of this course is to give theoretical and practical knowledge about restoration techniques of gypsum plaster decorations (carton Pierre, furuş etc.), gypsum plaster windows, malakari style, edirnekari style, stucco and fresco decorations found in traditional buildings or movable art pieces as an interior or exterior decorative elements.
Prerequisite: None 3rd semester

Objective / Content: This lesson aims to teach how to prepare the measured drawings of single buildings like mansions, mosques, madras's. To this aim a group composed of 2-3 students asked to choose a historic building, to take all the measurements and to prepare the final drawings concerning the site plan, floor plans, sections and elevations to 1/50 scale.
