FOT104 KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT

2 Hour/week Theoretical credits ,2, ECTS 2.

Objective/Content: Recognition of several technical equipments usage during the process and post- production stages, enabling the students to use them in discipline. Cameras in different formats and designs, digital cameras, dark room equipments, computer, scanner, printer and film developing machines and studio equipments.

FOT 106 BASICS OF PHOTOGRAPHY I

Objective/Content: The aim of this course is to teach the students the basic and structural principles of photography and teach them how to use these principles when they are taking photographs, also teach them rules of composition, how and when to use equipment
like lenses, cameras, light sensitve material like films and cards, tripods, filtres etc. And teach how to take photographs under different shooting conditions.

FOT 110 BASIC PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION  I

Objective/Content: This course comprises the study of basic elements that form the photograph and also the stages of setting up a correct photograph by using these elements. It is aimed first to recognize the visual elements such as texture, form/shape, and color and then to interest and form a composition by using them together.

Objective/Content: Aim/Context: Starting from the first historical organization of the primitive man, conditions of the specific history of man and differences between culture and nature, materialist and spiritual culture are the main subjects of this course. On the axis of man, relationships of man and relationships of man and nature, in the historical and sociological context, formation of culture, idea, the system of belief, magic and their effects on art and the civilizations are also examined.

Objective/Content: This course is designed for photopraphy students with basic computer experience who are ready to apply that knowledge to imaging software and techniques. This introduction to photoshop will cover the basic concepts and tools of this popular digital imaging software. Through demonstrations and instruction,students will learn the fundemantals of scannig, retouching, colorizing and printing their own images.

FOT 310 EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES

2 Hour/week Theoretical credits ,2, ECTS 6.
Objective/Content: For the experimentel photograph concept, the approach and tools, design and application project basics are " experiments, knowladge and reseach are aimed.
Thus, the course includes darkroom & lightroom paintings with light applications, polaroid experiments, local/total traditional solarizations, color works on black&white prints and ancient printing techniques expositions by the sun. Education programme is scheduled for two resulted semestres, techniques simultaniously covers unipue works and applications.

FOT 409 PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

3 Hour/week Applied-Theoretical credits ,2, ECTS 4.
Objective/Content: This course which is given in the 4th semester's, aims to take "Character portrait" in the studio and to focus on identifying the person. In the first term, students are taught basic lighting and methods of taking a photograph, also the effects are examined on different face positions and on a still model and applications are done for each face position. In the second term, some applications regarding backround lighting, the effects of camera angle, lighting ratio and contrast and also applications on a model are achieved to attain the ideal form for different types of faces. The subjects such as capturing the meaning on the face, communicaiton with the model, creating an atmosphere are the other studies to produce the portrait photo.

FOT 710 ART PHOTOGRAPHY III

Photography, as a means of representation, is the transformation of a multi dimensional object into two dimensional visual images. Thus, this course has two objectives.

  1. To achieve an artistic expression on a two dimesional plane by using all technological-aesthetic-semantic and pragmatic  feasibilities of photography.
  2. To start an interdisciplinary communication by, at first, admitting photography as the basic component, using unlimited dimensions and materials whereever necessary.

With projects focusing on objective reality, by starting from abstract notions such objective reality may be surpassed.

Objective/Content: At the seventh half semester documentary photography aims for the students to make a documentation on any subject by using camera. During these steps, photographer approaches the subject by his/her own thinking process besides the dynamics of the subject matter thus snakes a shape of the project and a grammer. Documentary photography projects includes all natural and cultural concepts.

FOT 712 ADVERTISEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY III

Objective/Content: The course is for seventh half semester and for eight half semester (the eight semesterstudents have to select the course for the diploma project) students. Advertisement photography lecture gives opportinites for the students to make an open and free work-shop area and conditions thus diciplines their projects. For the students, who  aim to become proffessionals, the course motivates and aims to give creative directions, thinking dicipline and a vision.

a) Students before the year 2005 must past all lectures till 7th semester and totally obtain 120 credits.
